THE BEST ROCKS FOR FRESHWATER AQUARIUM
Rocks are the most important thing of an aquarium. It helps so many ways for keeping our fishes healthy.
While choosing rocks for your fish tank you have to
follow some steps.
Basically, there are two types of people out there
One kind of person directly wanna buy rocks from
shops or online for their fish tank.
And another kind of people wanna choose their rocks themself.
It's up to the person.
I’m 2nd type people. I always like to
choose my own favorites to shape stone for my fish tank.
But don’t worry Today I’m going to tell you about both.
First people who wanna choose their rocks by them
self.
You can find rocks anywhere in your house. I mean if
you have any small or big river around home
Or if you know any lake around your home you can go
there. And start to choosing your rocks
Or if you don’t have any watery place near you, no the problem you just find a place where different type of rocks is available.
You can find rocks in any construction area where you
can find rocks very easily.
But the main point is identifying the right rocks for your
aquarium.
How can choose or test the right rocks for
aquarium:
Basically today I’m gonna tell you very easy and
available two systems how you can test the best rocks
First knife testing. One more thing we have to
remember that..we have to choose hard rocks for fish tank solid hard rocks
Not soft rocks...Now you may have a question about how I can
know which one is soft!!
Cause every kind of rocks basically hard. Yeh, you are
right! But there is one very easy way to find it
Which is knife testing yeh! For knowing is this stone
Good for your aquarium or not
You have to take a steel knife and try to scratch on the
stone or rocks.
If your stone harder than a steel knife you won't be
able to scratch on that stone.
And we know normally a steel knife hardness always around
neat 7 out of 10.
So it's very much easy to understand that this is the right stone for my fish tank.
So, if your knife able to make a search on the stone
then these are not the right or Not Good rocks for your fish tank.
Because the rock is soft. And we need a harder one.
Okay now move on to the second method.
Using some chemicals actually..hey don’t worry we just
going to use the very common thing.
For this test, we can use two types of products.
One is: Vinegar ( which
always available in our kitchen)
The second is: Muriatic acid
or Hydrochloric acid.
(Now again you can find
that Muriatic/ Hydrochloric Acid in any car Garage)
They basically use
it for cleaning the hard engine oil from any place.
Basically, it's much
much better if you use Hydroclori Asid ..(why?? I will
tell in a few minutes)
Okay, Now put one cup
of acid on the rocks what you love. If you see some reaction between rocks and
Acid
Like that..in the
Image, then you have to understand that’s a Soft rock. And it's not suitable for
your fish tank.
Now come to the point
why I say what it's much better if you use Hydrochloric Acid besides Vinegar.
Because basically
vinegar most of the time used for cooking so its do not have so much of Acid
chemicals on it.
So sometimes we won't
to able to find the reaction on soft rocks.
Look here this is
vinegar did you see any noticeable reaction on here.
But it's not like Vinegar is not unusable for this test. If you have a magnifying glass with
you
Then you can easily
saw the reactions and understand the softness of rocks.
So.. this is the
simplest way to find or understand the right rocks for your fish tanks.
And now one more the thing you have to be careful about it that you do not pick up any stone from near
any industrial area or where
After taking those
rocks you wash them with bleach and don’t worry blech won't be harmed them
Now you can use them
as you want if you want to smash them and make a very tiny one you can.
Or you can use it
for decoration only. I use them for both.. let show you my one Fishtank image.
In this tank, I use
rocks from near the lake of my home. First I test them and then smash them with a
heavy hammer then I wash
And dry them and
then starting to decorate the tank.
Now come to the
second method. It's actually very much easy.
But there are no
adventurous thought actually.
I will be told you some
best rocks who available on Amazon or any other online site and also
Your Local fish
shop. You can find them.

homes.
The thing I don't like about these rocks is that they are rough on the within.
this is often thanks to their resin makeup. The resin has been smoothed out on the surface but not on the within.
This results in rough and sharp edges inside the structure. This doesn't make them safe for delicate species like Betta Fish.
